Find out which version of this upcoming title you should pre-order!

With Sonic Origins right around the corner, you may be wanting to get the most bang for your buck when you plan to pick this title up. If you want to showcase your love for the blue blur, you’ll have multiple ways to make this happen, thanks to its mildly confusing pre-order options. As you’ll see, there are multiple different ways that you’ll be able to get your hands on this title, and if you’re wanting to get everything the game has to offer, you’ll want to make sure that you’re following along.

Sonic Origins Pre-Order – Which Version To Choose?

While the internet has had a bit of fun roasting Sega over their confusing chart, you’ll find that there are different bonuses spread out across all of these different versions, and we are going to make it a little easier to understand. Rather than spread across all of these parts, we are going to simplify it down to just two essential versions.

Sonic Origins Standard Edition – $39.99

If you are planning on pre-ordering the standard edition of Sonic Origins, you’ll get these alongside the base game:

  • Main Game
  • 100 Bonus Coins
  • Mirror Mode
  • Letterbox Background

So, you’ll get the main game, some extra coins to unlock some goodies, as well as the new mirror mode and letterbox background, allowing you to tweak the game to your liking. If you’re looking to get into the main Sonic experience, this version will be more than enough for most players. However, if you’re looking to get into the meat and potatoes, the extra $5 to upgrade to the Digital Deluxe edition may be worth your time and money.

If you have decided to pick up this version of Sonic Origins, you’ll need to pay for the extra DLC in the future if you decide that you would like to partake in either the Premium Fun Pack or Classic Music Pack.

Sonic Origins Digital Deluxe Edition – $44.99

If you’re looking to get the best version of this game, you’ll want to take a look at what the digital deluxe version has to offer, including:

  • Main Game
  • 100 Bonus Coins
  • Mirror Mode
  • Hard Missions
  • Letterbox Background
  • Character Animation In The Main Menu
  • Camera Controls Over The Main Menu Islands
  • Character Animations During Music Islands
  • Additional Music Tracks from MegaDrive/Genesis Titles

With all of those extras that would normally be standard DLC, the extra $5 is a no-brainer for this title. While it’s still a little strange that they are locking things such as character animations behind a paywall, some players may not care about those kinds of things.

If you’re looking for just a straight-up Sonic The Hedgehog experience, the Standard Edition will be more than enough for you. However, if you’re a true blue Sonic fan, the extra $5 to upgrade to the Digital Deluxe seems like the best deal for just about everyone looking to get this title.

Sonic Origins will be available on June 23 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC through Steam and Epic Games.
