SEGA and Sonic Team have officially dropped a new 40-second Sonic Prime teaser. The short clips show off new scenes in the upcoming Netflix original series, including a better look at Shadow the Hedgehog – Sonic’s main rival – Big the Cat, Dr. Eggman, and more.

When is Sonic Prime Coming to Netflix?

The trailer confirms that Sonic Prime will release on Netflix sometime in Winter 2022, but a specific release date was not given. Fans can likely expect an official release date to be teased closer to that timeframe.

Sonic Prime was originally first showcased during a short clip in a Netflix trailer for various upcoming animated series back in May, which included other shows like Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight, Boss Baby, and other shows. The trailer also showed off more of what we can expect from the new voice actor Sonic in Sonic Prime, Devin Mack, who is also famous for having provided voiceovers for several shows, movies, and video games. These include Bakugan, LEGO NINJAGO, Johnny Test and Dragalia Lost, and several more.

Sonic Prime is not the only Sonic-related media coming in Winter 2022, with the highly-anticipated Sonic Frontiers arriving on November 8, 2022. Sonic Frontiers was featured prominently at the Tokyo Game Show 2022, receiving its own new trailer and offering a demo for fans to come and try out prior to the game’s release.

Sonic Frontiers also recently won an award at the Tokyo Game Show Japan Game Awards Future Division as one of the most highly-anticipated games of the year, the first time such a thing has happened in franchise history.

It is entirely possible that Sonic Prime will be released prior to the release of Sonic Frontiers in November to help build anticipation for the game, but that is pure speculation and will remain to be seen until more information can be provided.
