Sonic Prime is set to be a new Netflix release, but before this new animated show is set upon the world, a brand-new trailer has dropped that will give you a small inkling of things to come. Watch the trailer below, but you’ve been warned because this trailer really only offers a tiny insight into the show, and it also features some previews of other upcoming shows as well – so skip forward to 1.49 to see Sonic’s bit.

Now, don’t jump out of your seat just yet because there is no actual release date as it stands, but this news is good for Sonic fans as it means this upcoming show has not felt the wrath of the Netflix animation purge that will be happening in the near future.

What is Netflix saying about Sonic Prime?

On the subject of Sonic Prime and the other new Netflix releases, vice-president of Netflix’s animated series’ John Derderian said, “Whether it is the thrill of dinosaurs chasing you in Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous, laughter with familiar friends from Boss Baby, or the breath-taking adventures of upcoming series Sonic Prime, Daniel Spellbound, and My Dad the Bounty Hunter, Netflix is the home of your favorite characters.”

Derderian went on to say, “We want to create a safe and trusted space where your children can relax, play, learn, and explore alongside their favorite characters… I love seeing the world through my children’s eyes and sharing new experiences.” Someone sounds exciting, that’s for sure. Although Netflix does attribute the expelling of animated content to the drop in subscribers, it does make you wonder why Netflix decided to keep children’s animated shows but do away with everything else, though, but that’s for another time.

The little blue hedgehog has been a bit of a hot topic recently, with the release of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and the news we brought you about Sega abolishing certain famous titles from certain digital storefronts. Sonic will always flourish, such is his popularity, so here’s hoping that Sonic Prime is a real hit with kids and Sonic fans everywhere.
