A trailer has just landed for Sonic The Hedgehog, as in the movie (not the game). And actually, it looks pretty good. The trailer is just under 3 minutes long and features Sonic’s new less horrific design! Check it out below:

We first got a look at some leaked art for Sonic The Hedgehog back in March 2019, and it was pretty, actually outright horrific. That was swiftly followed by a teaser trailer that was met with a similar disgust.

And to their credit, Paramount Pictures have worked to redesign Sonic pretty tirelessly, and now he looks decent enough. The whole redesign meant that the film had to be pushed back to 2020. Its most recent planned launch date was actually November 8th. Which happens to be my birthday, and I can’t think of anything worse as a gift than trashing one of my childhood heroes. Now the film is set to launch on Valentine’s day, February 14, 2020.

The film follows Sonic as he jumps from his world to Earth, evading the government, and Dr. Robotnik. He teams up with Tom Wachowski (James Marsden) on his quest, and it looks as though he gets into all kinds of family-friendly mishaps.

Sonic The Hedgehog has a cast line up of Ben Schwartz as Sonic the Hedgehog, Jim Carrey as Dr. Ivo Robotnik, and James Marsden as the main human protagonist Tom Wachowski.

Nintendo Enthusiast actually announced a rumor yesterday that the trailer would drop today, citing Fandango as their source.

The Sonic The Hedgehog film has had a rough old journey, originally in 2013-2016 Sony had the rights to the film but it ended up in turnaround, which in short means that they can hand over a project to another company with some agreements. In this case, that other company was Paramount Pictures who took up the mantle in 2017. With the majority of the cast signing over in 2018.

With just over 3 months until the film is released, it should be exciting to see what has become of it.
