As technology improves and more innovation is made, mobile gaming is more prevalent. In all facets of our games, smartphones are a constant idea in the minds of executives and developers. While it’s what drives the most revenue, it can also expand the current player base. As evident with the rise of game streaming, console gaming on the go doesn’t have to be a bulky Steam Deck. Many push for the high-speed internet alternative that brings huge libraries of games straight to a mobile phone. These services are great and work well for what they try to achieve, but only a few consumer-friendly brands have produced reasonably great devices. Backbone, for example, has pushed for their device to become the standard. While Microsoft has made its services more accessible, Sony has long since been overdue for such a product. Now with the Backbone One PlayStation Edition, Sony fans have a more streamlined option to choose from.
What Does Sony’s Backbone One PlayStation Edition Feature Differently?
Announced through a YouTube video, the short trailer documents some of the PlayStation remote play options some users may want to experience on the go. As the device is similar to the original, the Backbone One PlayStation Edition features some cosmetic differences. The obvious being the buttons the controller features, but also the Backbone app itself. Using the devices changes the app to more similarly reflect the theme of PlayStation devices. Yet, the device retains the original design of featuring dual analog sticks off-centered. Marking one of the first official PlayStation consoles to adopt the design. While the catalog of PlayStation remote-play games can be a bit limiting, more titles will be on PC and mobile within a few years. While more is yet to be seen, fans can order the device now on Backbone’s official site.
