Sony has announced new release dates for The Last of Us Part II and Ghost of Tsushima. Both PlayStation blockbusters will launch this summer.

In an update on the PlayStation Blog, Sony Head of Worldwide Studios Hermen Hulst announced the new release dates for the games. Both games, like many others, were on hold due to the worldwide coronavirus epidemic.

Sony Shifts Release Dates for The Last of Us Part II and Ghost of Tsushima to Summer

In the blog, Hulst addressed that the development teams have been at work adapting to the new work from home system. As well, he confirms that The Last of Us Part II will now release on June 19, and Ghost of Tsushima will follow on July 17.

Hulst did not go into detail as to the delays but does note that the games are coming soon due to the ease in the global distribution environment. The Last of Us Part II was originally set to release on May 29, while Ghost of Tsushima was set to follow on June 26.

Hulst later goes on to congratulate the teams at Naughty Dog and Sucker Punch Productions on their hard work on both games. He also went on to thank PlayStation fans for their support and patience at this time.

While The Last of Us Part II and Ghost of Tsushima have new release dates, there is no word yet on the Marvel PSVR game Iron Man VR. Originally set to release on May 15, the virtual reality take on Iron Man is on hold for now.

Sony has done a lot as more people stay home due to the coronavirus pandemic. For example, the Stay at Home initiative allowed PlayStation players access to Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection and Journey for free.
