Nearly a week into October — also known as “spooky season” — Sony Pictures Entertainment has finally dropped the first look at the reboot of the Resident Evil movies with the Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City trailer. In the trailer, viewers get a glimpse into the new movie series as a whole, the characters, horror elements, and of course, a variety of undead enemies.

As the Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City trailer shows, this new installment serves as a return to the origins of the Resident Evil franchise. It is not exploring the characters or continuing the stories from Paul W.S. Anderson’s original series of films. As such, the new movie features a new, younger cast playing the roles of several well-known Resident Evil characters.

The cast for Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City includes:

  • Kaya Scodelario as Claire Redfield
  • Robbie Amell as Chris Redfield
  • Avan Jogia as Leon S. Kennedy
  • Hannah John-Kamen as Jill Valentine
  • Lily Gao as Ada Wong
  • Tom Hopper as Albert Wesker

The official synopsis for the movie was released along with the Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City trailer. It states:

Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City is written and directed by Johannes Roberts. Fans can look forward to seeing it on November 24, 2021 exclusively in theaters.
