As you are probably well aware, Sony’s PlayStation Network has been shut-down after an attack by “external forces”. Some have gone on to ponder if their personal information is secure on the PSN. That answer is YES at the moment. A source claims that when confronting Sony directly about the possibility of a privacy breach for PSN members, they were told that there was a 100% chance that no account or personal information has been divulged in the recent attack.
Now whether this turns out to be the 100% truth is anyone’s guess, and I suppose that you wouldn’t know if your information had been leaked until it was too late anyway. It was rumored several months ago that Sony stored and transmitted credit card information on the PSN in an unencrypted manner. However, since the widespread release of the PS3 jailbreak these security vulnerabilities have likely been shored up.
