During an E3 2018 interview with Geoff Keighley, Michael Pachter has provided his opinion about what happened at the Xbox media briefing, and what is going to happen at Sony’s later today.

Pachter was rather happy with the showcase from Microsoft, taking into account the huge exhibition of games not only from a first party perspective but also, and mainly, from the third party developers and publishers.

According to him, there were 40 third party games that were enjoyable (he used the term “impressive”). Thanks to them, Microsoft was able to catch people’s attention during the entire media briefing, even though those weren’t exclusives.

Interestingly, he said that Sony is going through a risky path for its E3 2018 showcase, where it’s apparently going to discuss exclusively first-party titles from its internal studios for PlayStation 4. He thinks that overall it’s a mistake to focus only on exclusive games.

It doesn’t mean that PS4 has already lost the E3 2018 of course, Pachter clarified, but it’s likely that the pace will be a bit slower in comparison with Microsoft’s media briefing and that the users should notice that.
