Indulge Within the Source of Madness

Announced during the Guerrilla Collective press conference just this weekend, the Swedish two-person team over at Carry Castle were able to show off their newest digital adventure entitled Source of Madness.

The indie platformer brings together the inspired mythology and writings of H.P. Lovecraft with rouge-lite features that changes each particular nightmare one after the other. A disturbing endeavor as the red-caped protagonist faces off against a multifariousness range of ever-changing creatures, with each world adapting through unique procedural mechanics by a machine learning AI within the game’s code that modifies the creatures and environments.

The trailer for the Source of Madness pans along a lineup of strange creatures that keep getting bigger until the screen turns to the game’s title. It’s backed by haunting tick-tocking music of an elder clock that is mixed with ghoulish and intense bass hits, ending with soft keys of a peaceful instrument as our first look into Source of Madness comes to close.

With each altering dynamic world that you visit, you can gather the spilled blood of your foes to offer at magical altars that can provide eternal abilities for the rogue-lite experience. Along with the permanent powers you can utilize for the game’s combat, there’s also a  wide range of spells that can be mastered to battle against the monsters discovered through mystical attack combinations.

Source of Madness is certain to bring a new level of virtual insanity to the rogue-lite genre. This will be the third game from Carry Castle, with the relaxing musical title Zen Garden and the physics-based action VR game Everything Must Fall being their previous creative endeavors. Thunderful Publishing (Lonely Mountains: Downhill, Hellfront: Honeymoon) will be distributing the brand new nightmare adventure soon for the Nintendo Switch and PC.
