Everybody get up it’s time to slam now, Space Jam is back! That’s right. If you haven’t already heard Space Jam is getting a sequel aptly titled Space Jam: A New Legacy. Whispers about the movie gone around for years, now we finally have our first real look at Space Jam: A New Legacy thanks to images provided by EW.

As reported by EW, Space Jam: A New Legacy follows Lebron James playing a “heightened version of himself” who is struggling to connect with his son Dom (Cedric Joe) who’s much more interested in “creating games than playing them.” Dom and Lebron are “sucked into the Warner 3000 entertainment Server-verse” by G Rhythm (Don Cheadle) a CGI humanoid who wants to “steal some of the King’s followers.” Presumably by “followers,” it’s referring to are social media followers. After being pulled into the “Server-verse” Lebron must “round up the Tunes, including the banished Bugs to defeat the formidable Goon Squad” in order to save his son and escape this world.

It’s Time to SLAM NOW in Space Jam: A New Legacy!

Lebron James shared his excitement for the project on Twitter, giving us another look at the Tune Squad uniform that will be featured in the movie.

James will be joined alongside Sonequa Martin-Green as his wife as well as Ceyair Wright as an older son and Harper Leigh Alexander as his daughter Xosha. Of course, the Tunes will be there as well. Fan favorites such as Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Tweety, and Tasmanian Devil are some of the many classic characters set to appear. We’ll also be seeing characters from “the studio’s most famous films” due to Lebron James being sent in through the Warner Bros. Server. It’s exciting to think about what Warner Bros. properties may show up!

Space Jam: A New Legacy is set to release on July 23 this year, with Malcolm D. Lee serving as Director for the project. The movie looks to be quite exciting judging from the screenshots we’ve received thus far. As a huge fan of the original, I’m all for more Space Jam! I just hope the music is amazing as the first one!
