This series of oneshots for Critical Role has been the gift that keeps on giving. Even nearly two years after the campaign centered around Vox Machina ended, single-episode stories have continued their adventures. Initially, the Search for Grog filled in a plot point left behind in the campaign. But thanks to the overwhelmingly successful Critical Role Kickstarter campaign, fans have gotten two more oneshots. The second was the Search for Bob, picking up another plot point that the Search for Grog left. The third is the recently announced wedding for characters Percival and Vex’ahlia, played by cast members Laura Bailey and Taliesin Jaffe.

In an email sent out to all Kickstarter backers, Critical Role gave a digital wedding invitation. It is to take place at Dalen’s Closet, a beachside resort featured in one episode of Critical Role. A plotline in the campaign had the two characters get married in secret, but a conversation in these oneshots made the decision they would have another wedding for all their friends and family to attend at Dalen’s Closet. Given fans love for the couple, Critical Role happily obliged thanks to the Kickstarter donations.

The timing of this is also nice for the cast. While exact details haven’t been announced, this episode may have been pre-recorded so some member of the cast could attend Burning Man, as they do each year. If it will be a live show, it’s likely some guests will come in to take the place of the usual members of the cast.

This isn’t the final oneshot that has been promised as a reward for the Kickstarter. There is still a new battle royale to look forward to, as well as Ashley Johnson serving as a Dungeon Master for the first time. But, if history has taught us anything, it’s that there will be a line or a plot point in this wedding oneshot that will lead to a new one. The story will continue. And in that way, we will continue to be entertained by Vox Machina.

The oneshot will air this Thursday, the 29th, on Twitch at 7 pm Pacific.
