This week, Marvel is closing out its Spider-Man 2099: Exodus arc with a showdown of epic proportions. The seven-part Exodus story celebrates the 30th anniversary of Miguel O’Hara, aka Spider-Man 2099. Throughout the series, Miguel learned that Norman Osborn is behind the nefarious Cabal organization. Now, this one-shot promises a showdown between the futuristic web-slinger and the classic Green Goblin.

Who is Spider-Man 2099?

This year is the 30th anniversary of Spider-Man 2099. Miguel O’Hara is an engineer of Irish and Mexican descent who worked for the Alchemex corporation in a future version of Earth. After a sabotaged genetic experiment, O’Hara’s DNA became spliced with that of a spider. Thus, Spider-Man 2099 is born. From then on, Miguel went on his futuristic web-sling adventures, even traveling through time to meet Peter Parker.

Classic Green Goblin Showdown!

Throughout the Spider-Man 2099: Exodus story, Miguel has been tracking down the individual responsible for the Cabal. The Cabal is an organization within the grim 2099 timeline that has wreaked havoc on the heroes of that time. Recently, the villainous group slaughtered the Avengers of the future on live TV. Needless to say, the Spider-Man of 2099 wanted to put a stop to such a group.

As it turns out, classic Green Goblin alter ego Norman Osborn is behind the Cabal and their evildoings. Now, Miguel is tasked with stopping Osborne from getting his hands on materials that could change the world leftover from a dead celestial. To do this, the wall-crawler has enlisted a roster of heavy hitters from Marvel’s future. They include 2099’s Winter Soldier, Black Widow, X-Men, and many more.

However, no matter how many heroes Spider-Man 2099 has on his side, Marvel promises an epic showdown in this one-shot finale. One that pits the classic Spider-Man villain with the hero of the future!
