Peter Parker has never been much of a team player. Sure, he’s more than willing to team up with his surrogate family the Fantastic Four, or even his old pal Daredevil, but he doesn’t usually make it permanent. But in the latest issue of Marvel Comics’ The Amazing Spider-Man, Peter knows he’s going to need help. And when things get dangerous, Spider-Man reassembles the New Avengers.

SPOILERS for The Amazing Spider-Man #65 by Nick Spencer, Federico Vicentini, and Federico Sabbatini

The Kingpin has set his sights on Pete’s roommate Fred Myers also known as the supervillain Boomerang. Despite being a pretty low-level criminal, Boomerang managed to swipe a piece of the Kingpin’s latest obsession: the Lifeline Tablet. Fisk is now leading of Marvel’s organized crime heads against the crook. He even declared open season for criminals in New York until he gets what he’s after. He’s even got the hitman Bullseye trailing Boomerang. Spider-Man realizes he’s going to need some backup and calls the team that always had his back: the New Avengers.

While readers don’t actually see Spider-Man make the call, the issue ends with a full-page group shot of fan-favorite Avengers like Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, Spider-Woman, Iron Fist, and Hawkeye. Even Wolverine answers the call, which is extra surprising when you consider how he told Captain America to his face that he was no longer an Avenger. This team stuck together through some of the biggest events in Marvel history, including Civil War and Secret Invasion. So it’s not too surprising that they’d show up to help Spidey stop the Kingpin. Peter isn’t the only Spider-Man who could use a helping hand. Click here to see what his good buddy Miles Morales is up to.
