Spider-Man: Far From Home released this past Tuesday, an unusual release date for movies, to surpass records even Avengers: Endgame couldn’t reach.

It seems as if the Fourth of July came early as fans went in droves to support the wall-crawlers latest explosive adventure. The July 2nd debut has the highest overall Tuesday gross of any flick that ever been released.

Far From Home is the 23rd movie in the MCU and closes out what has now been dubbed as the “Infinity Saga“.  The film raked in $39.3 million, beating out The Amazing Spider-Man’s Tuesday release of $35 million.

The film even beat out Endgame’s $25.2 million Wednesday gross by banking in a hefty $27 million. This is the highest earning figure for any MCU film on that day.

The movie received a 90% Rotten Tomatoes, scoring higher than any other live-action Spider-Man entry excluding Spider-Man 2.  Sam Raimi’s second effort with the web-swinger holds a 92%. Meanwhile, the animated Into The Spider-Verse holds a 97 % since it’s December 2018 release.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens previously held the record for almost four years now with $37.4 million Tuesday gross. Star Wars is another property Disney bought along with Marvel before their Fox acquisition this year. So, they are basically just breaking their own records, while buying up everyone at this point.

Spidey Forever

Far From Home is Spidey’s second solo outing since joining the MCU. Homecoming (2017) was his big reintroduction after Sony came to an agreement with Marvel to make Spider-Man again.

Marvel appears to be setting up Spidey actor Tom Holland as their next Robert Downey Jr. to lead the MCU’s next phase. They cast him young and got Holland locked in a multi-picture deal since his debut in Civil War.
