Sony and Insomniac just revealed a new gameplay trailer for the upcoming PlayStation 5 launch title, Spider-Man: Miles Morales. During a digital event on Wednesday, Sony showcased the games coming to its next-generation console. Sandwiched in between reveal trailers for Final Fantasy XVI and Hogwarts Legacy was Insomniac’s next adventure into Peter Parker’s world. The game will follow Miles one year after gaining his powers in Insomniac’s 2018 title. The trailer, which can be viewed below, presented Miles’s unique abilities of invisibility and electric shocks against a group of enemies.

Spider-Man: Miles Morales focuses on a war between the villainous energy corporation Roxxon and the Underground, a high-tech criminal army led by the Tinkerer. Caught in the middle of it is Miles’ home of Harlem. The trailer begins with Miles visiting a pop-up street fair with Ganke Lee, his best friend from the comics. It isn’t long before Insomniac gets to the meaty gameplay.

After a fight breaks out, Spider-Man follows the Underground to a nearby bridge. The Tinkerer, with goons in tow, steals an experimental energy source from Roxxon. The conflict leads to an explosion, forcing Miles to fight enemies on a crumbling bridge. It makes for an excellent set-piece and showcases the combat. Miles’ abilities of electricity and invisibility set him apart from Peter Parker’s Spider-Man. The trailer shows the benefits of using them against enemies to great effect. We see him ground slam, sending electricity towards enemies, as well as electrically charge himself and dash into a foe.
