Spider-Man: No Way Home is officially Sony Picture’s highest-grossing movie of all time after nudging Spider-Man: Far From Home out of first place. As of this writing, No Way Home has made $516.4 million at the domestic box office and $644.9 million internationally– resulting in a worldwide total of $1.16 billion so far.
According to a report from IGN, “Domestically, Spider-Man: No Way Home took $21.3 million on Tuesday from 4,336 locations across the US bringing its cumulative total to $516.4 million, the third-fastest film of all time to reach the $500 million mark. Internationally, No Way Home grossed $28.4 million on Tuesday, bringing its international cumulative total to $644.9 million.”
This combination officially names Spider-Man: No Way Home as the highest-grossing Sony Pictures film of all time. As the film released during the pandemic, these numbers are astronomical. It’s predecessor, Spider-Man: Far From Home, raised $1.13 billion while in theaters, so this gap is only going to increase.
No Way Home released on December 17, 2021, and made $260 million over the opening weekend, making it the second-biggest domestic opening of all time at the box office. It is only beat by Avengers: Endgame, which made $1.2 billion worldwide in its opening weekend.
The third Spider-Man movie starring Tom Holland was highly anticipated by fans and has received stunning accolades since its release. No Way Home also starred Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Jon Favreau, Marisa Tomei and Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange. Long-time fans of the Spidey franchise may recognize the familiar faces of some past villains too (Alfred Molina, Willem Dafoe, Jamie Foxx, Rhys Ifans, and Thomas Haden Church).
