One of the most anticipated games of 2018 is Insomniac Games’ Spider-Man, a PlayStation 4 exclusive that will bring an Arkham Asylum-like combat system into an open world New York City, eight years into Peter Parker’s superhero career. The game will be the first venture into licensed IPs for Insomniac, who are known for creating such franchises as Spyro the Dragon, Ratchet & Clank and Sunset Overdrive. With several gameplay and story trailers for the game out now, Spider-Man fans and action-adventure game fans alike have been waiting with bated breath for the game to come out. Well, given some recent news, it looks like we won’t have to wait much longer.

GamesRadar reports that there are currently several playtests of the game underway, including by Design Director Brian Horton, who, according to his Twitter, has recently been finishing up his third playthrough of the game. Such extensive playtesting by someone in a position like Horton’s would seem to suggest that the game is nearly finished. Of course, this is just speculation, but it wouldn’t be surprising if in the coming weeks we finally got a release date for Spider-Man, and hopefully the release of the game would follow not too long after the announcement. Horton also states that each individual playthrough has taken “multiple days,” so it seems like it will also be a pretty big game.
