This year marks Spider-Man’s 60th anniversary, and Marvel is pulling out all the stops! In a recent interview, Marvel’s Editor-in-Chief CB Cebulski and Spider-Man Editor Nick Lowe discuss what makes the web-slinger so special. They also look at what is in store in the coming months for the friendly neighborhood superhero.

Spider-Man and the Test of Time!

It has been 60 years since Stan Lee and Steve Ditko drew Spider-Man into existence. Peter Parker has come a long way from that 1962 issue of Amazing Fantasy. In fact, the web shooting superhero has popped up all over the Marvel Universe, from video games and books to comics and movies. However, with this 60th anniversary on his belt, Spider-Man shows no signs of slowing down.

Marvel’s Nick Lowe and CB Cebulski share what makes the web-slinger so popular and able to withstand the test of time. They pointed out recent series like Zeb Wells, John Romita Jr., and Ed Mcguinness’ The Amazing Spider-Man (2022) as perfect examples of why Spider-Man is still around. It is the blend of classic Spidey with new villains and tech and scenarios. As Cebulski notes, with Peter Parker, there can never be enough craziness!

Comics, Comics, Comics!

Speaking of Spider-Man comics, during this Spidey-loving interview, Cebulski revealed a new series on the horizon: Deadly Neighborhood Spider-Man. This new series comes from the creative team of Taboo, of Black Eyed Peas fame, and B. Earl. It is a big Spidey story that brings in a familiar face: Demon Bear from New Mutants and X-Men. It is a perfect combo. Plus, the story, drawn by Juan Ferreyra, takes Parker out of his home in New York and into the bustling streets of LA!

That isn’t the only new Spider-Man comic coming. A new weekly Infinity Comic titled Spider-Verse: Unlimited is making its way to the app. It kicks off with a complete story from Anthony Piper and Bruno Oliveira. This one-and-done issue sets up a fantastic series that focuses on Peter Parker and the Multiverse. This story is followed by a Miles Morales-focused story with bits of Peter and Gwen Stacy thrown into the mix.

It is definitely a great time to be a Spider-Man fan! Here is to the next 60 years!
