Christmas came early for fans slinging around New York as Spider-Man on the PlayStation 4. To go along with the other many suits in the game, developers with Insomniac Games released the spidey suit from the 2002 superhero movie.

The team announced the suit on social media

Sam Raimi directed the 2002 Spider-Man movie starring Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker and with it fans saw a new suit for the wall-crawler.

The release of the “Raimi” suit, now called the Webbed Suit in the PS4 game, caused quite a stir in the gaming community. Controversy surrounded whether or not the suit would ever be wearable in the game.

Insomniac announced three new suits will be released in the DLC “The City that Never Sleeps” but of those three, not one was the famous suit from the Sam Raimi directed films. However, one included is featured in the animated movie Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Fans took to the internet with their complaints against the developers not adding the iconic version from the film.

So the trolls won?

The release saw fans on the internet apologizing for what was said and thanking Insomniac for the addition.
