New footage of Splatoon 2 for Nintendo Switch  was recently revealed by Nintendo and it offers players a glimpse at single player portion of the game.  One of the Squid Sisters, Callie, has gone missing in the game and you must find her.  You’ll team up with Marie to battle against the Octarian army using a variety of different weapons while battling through slew of big bosses.

Just a couple of weapons that Nintendo mentioned will be heading to Splatoon 2 Single Player are the Roller, Slosher, Splatling, and new Dualies.

The original Splatoon released for the Wii U just a couple of years ago and was an ambitious debut project for Nintendo.  The company which rarely veers from their tried and true series like The Legend of Zelda, Mario, Kirby and others took a chance on a different type of game.

We reviewed Splatoon back in 2015 and gave it a 4.5/5, calling it “another great new IP from Nintendo and a fresh take on the shooter genre.” From what we’ve seen thus far, Splatoon 2 is shaping up to be of the same level of quality.

This time around, Nintendo will have a lot of momentum as Splatoon 2 goes to launch.  The Nintendo Switch has been the top selling console for its first two months on the market, and Nintendo is still having trouble keeping the hardware in stock at retailers.  Both of Nintendo’s big launch window titles for the Switch have sold well, with Breath of the Wild and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe both topping the charts.

We’ll have to wait and see if Nintendo can keep it up into the summer months and onto the holiday season.

Splatoon 2 is heading to the Nintendo Switch on July 21st.
