The Salmon Run quest has been reintroduced in Splatoon 3, with the only difference being the introduction of fish scales. These are valuable items that can be exchanged for premium items at Grizzco headquarters. Getting these fish scales is quite a hustle as it involves participating in the Salmon Run, which can be tricky. Luckily, we have prepared a guide showing you how to get Salmon Run fish scales on Splatoon 3.

Splatoon 3: How to get Salmon Run fish scales

To earn fish scales, your character must defeat King Salmon, a monster fish that spawns during the Salmon Run. He will often appear at the end of the third round, and you must work with your teammates to defeat him before concluding the match. King Salmon is one of the most formidable enemies in the game. So, we advise that you bring your A game while facing him. Notably, he will be surrounded by many minions. If you are not careful, they might even overwhelm you.

You can easily tell when King Salmon will appear by looking at the meter at the far right corner of your experience bar. When this meter is complete, it implies that the next Salmon Run you embark on will feature the Salmon King. Defeating him is your only chance at earning the valuable fish scales. You will increase your chances of encountering the Salmon King by completing as many Salmon Runs as possible. Thus, we recommend that you play as many times as possible. In all, there are three types of fish scales, bronze scales, fish scales, and gold scales. Rarer types of fish scales will drop depending on the hazard levels.

Once you are done collecting fish scales, please navigate to the rewards window in Grizzco and exchange them for premium in-game items. You can get several rewards from participating in Salmon Runs, including Grizzmo points which can unlock various bonuses.

Splatoon 3 is exclusively available on Nintendo Switch.
