Yesterday;s Nintendo Direct was full of info about all of the big games coming to Wii U and 3DS over the next few months. All of the mainstays were there, such as The Legend of Zelda and Pikmin. But for those who have been waiting for a new experience from Nintendo the biggest revelations were those about Splatoon. This third-person paint shooting game was first unveiled at E3 2014 and has become one of the most highly anticipated title coming to the Wii U. In the presentation yesterday we learned that the game would be coming some time during the second quarter of 2015, bringing the release window down from the entire year to only a few months. We also were told that the multiplayer action we had seen so far was only the beginning of what Splatoon has to offer.
Splatoon will feature a single player campaign mode, which also seems to have some story elements to tie it all together. As we already knew, in Splatoon you play as an Inkling, which is a squid who can turn into a human at will. As this character you battle for dominance of various maps by covering the stage in your team’s color using paint guns and other tools. Along with this it seems, we will have a full single player mode which features new enemies.
