The Splinter Cell Remake is in development, and fans can not wait to put on Sam’s titular night vision goggles and stealth their way through enemy territory. Even though we don’t even have a release date yet, we’ve gotten some interesting information about the game. An Ubisoft developer currently working on the Splinter Cell Remake explained that players could play through the whole game without killing even a single character.

The remake of the original Splinter Cell has been long-awaited and hyped far before the official confirmation. The remake will take inspiration from the very roots of the franchise, but the developers are looking to modernize it instead of repeating the same game with better visuals and gameplay.

The last entry in the franchise, Blacklist, came out nearly a decade ago. And while it was a good game, it did not see the success Ubisoft would have hoped for. Even though Blacklist gave you the option to go stealthy, it was often easier to just gun your way through the game like Splinter Cell Conviction.

Splinter Cell Remake

It seems Ubisoft is really working hard to make the Splinter Cell Remake a good place for players to get into the genre, and according to Senior Game Designer Andy Schmoll, killing people is entirely optional. Players will also have options to solve situations other than the good old hide-or-shoot options. Ubisoft is also working hard to improve the stealth action compared to previous titles.

Chris Auty, the creative director of the Splinter Cell Remake, said that the remake would improve flexibility by giving players a wider array of gadgets and abilities that were not present in the original game.

Splinter Cell is one of the cornerstones of the stealth genre, with the other one being Metal Gear. The game has always focused primarily on stealth action and solving puzzles and situations in real time. Some ways to do this were the iconic split jump, using darkness to Sam’s advantage, and ensuring all the lights were out. The Splinter Cell Remake is currently under development and will hopefully live up to the hype and help bring back the stealth action genre.
