The new free-to-play first-person shooter Splitgate has taken the gaming world by storm by taking aspects of other FPS shooters like Halo and combining them with parts of Portal to create a unique battle experience. With a brand new games comes a list of trophies and achievements. One of them is called “Trickster” and requires you to earn a portal kill. This might be a little difficult to achieve, so this guide will show you how to get a portal kill in Splitgate.

How to Get a Portal Kill in Splitgate

In Splitgate, portal kills are earned by having an enemy fall to their death by traveling through one of your portals. This is different from getting kills through a portal which is needed to get certain camos on your weapons. This means that these kills won’t come from using your weapon, but instead you will need to rely on your opponent killing themselves after entering your portal to get this kill and the achievement. Just so you know, this has to be done in a Public Match, so don’t even try to just do this with friends in a Custom Match. You will just be wasting your time.

This challenge is fairly difficult to complete as there is no guaranteed way to get a portal kill. It requires an enemy to run through your portal, so there is very little you can do to get this challenge. Here is a strategy to increase the chances of getting someone to do that.

Firstly, find a game on Olympus since it is possible to fall off the map and to your death. Find a wall that doesn’t have ground beneath it. Once you have a portal set up, you will want to head to high traffic locations and try to get an enemy to go through the second portal. You can try to predict when an enemy is going to go and place the portal at their feet or try and bait an enemy to follow you through the second portal. Both of these require you to either predict an enemy or rely on them chasing you so it might take some time to get this. Just keep trying and you will eventually get the portal kill in Splitgate.

Splitgate is currently in beta and is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
