Before the release of the Splitgate beta late last month there weren’t many options for FPS titles that cross the typical shooter with incredible portal mechanics such as those popularized by Valve’s Portal (i.e. there were none). Now that Splitgate has exploded onto the scene there are tons of gamers scrambling to try out the latest popular, free-to-play craze. While it is currently only in beta, Splitgate is certainly well-polished and introduces a ton of new features that breathe life into the standard run and gun we see in most FPS games. One thing that may be on the minds of many new players as they jump into the action is if Splitgate supports cross-platform games/crossplay. Would you be able to crossplay Splitgate between a PC and an Xbox, for example?

Is There Cross-Platform/CrossPlay Support in Splitgate?

Long story short – yes, there is tons of support for cross-platform play in Splitgate. You would be able to square off against someone in Splitgate via crossplay even if they were on PC and you were on Xbox, or if they were on PlayStation and you were on PC, etc. This extends to all systems and game modes within the game, as it seems that cross-platform support is a big deal to developer 1047 Games.

You can join friends by going to the social menu, navigating to the Add Friends tab, and entering the ID code of the person you would like to play with. You can find your own ID at the top of this same screen.

Some features within crossplay have been called somewhat buggy – such as voice chat not functioning properly in some lobbies. 1047 Games has acknowledged this bug via Twitter as of Jul 24 and stated that they plan on addressing it as soon as possible. As of Aug 17, the bug is still being squashed. However, you can check out your settings (such as the Party Chat Only setting, Open Mic (Team Only) setting, and the Proximity Chat setting) to make sure you aren’t preventing yourself from being able to chat with your friends that are on another platform. Toggling these options has provided some solution for others.

If you do happen to want to disable crossplay, for whatever reason, that is also possible via the in-game menus. Simply navigate to the main menu, select Settings, and go to the Privacy subsection. There you will see a check-box for enabling/disabling cross-platform play.
