Who lives in a pineapple under the sea? SpongeBob Squarepants. And soon he’ll be living in the memory or disc trays of all our current gen consoles. THQ Nordic has announced today that SpongeBob Squarepants: Battle for Bikini Bottom is getting a remake. You can see the announcement trailer (that gives absolutely nothing away) below.

Entitled SpongeBob Squarepants: Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated, the game will release on the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and PC at some point in the future. As well as a remaster of the original game, rehydrated will feature a multiplayer mode, which I’m sure will be fun enough, but if I wanted kids to swear at me online I’d just play Call of Duty. Other than that, not much is known at this stage for Spongebob Squarepants: Battle for Bikini Botton Rehydrated. I know that I hate typing out that entire title, but hey, it’s what I’m here for. Have a look at the announcement trailer for yourself:

It doesn’t give much away, but then again, let’s face it, it doesn’t need to, it’s just a remake of one of SpongeBob’s most popular games to date. So from that angle, Spongebob Squarepants: Battle for Bikini Bottom originally released back in 2003 on the PlayStation 2, Xbox, GameCube, PC and Game Boy Advance (not that’ll it’ll be that version of the game). It was a 3D platforming game and was as colorful as you’d expect. It released to mixed reviews from critics, yet went on to have something of a cult following, such as the love of SpongeBob fans.
