The wait is over for those who have been patiently waiting to use Spotify on their Xbox One console. The app has been launched in North America today, with Europe and other regions expected to follow very soon. As the biggest platform for streaming music, with more than 140 million users worldwide, Spotify allows free users and paid subscribers to play a huge catalogue of music on their console, including full soundtracks of videogames.

Aaron Greenberg, the Head of Xbox Games Marketing was the first one to share the news on Twitter. The Spotify Music app on Xbox offers functions such as play music in the background while playing a game, explore playlists, played our saved songs, search for any artist, album, or song, and use Spotify Connect to control the app remotely from our smartphone.

The arrival of Spotify to Xbox One was heavily rumored after some screenshots appeared online that suggested that the app was being tested internally by Microsoft. The platform has been available for PS4 and PS3 since 2015, with Spotify actually managing the renewed PlayStation Music app.

To find Spotify in your Xbox One, search for it in the Entertainment menu of the console, under All apps. For more information, visit the official website of the platform.
