The Harvey Awards, which honors outstanding works in comics, finished revealing its list of nominations for this year’s awards. Popular manga titles Spy x Family, Chainsaw Man, Boys Run the Riot, Asadora!, and Remina have all been nominated for the Best Manga Category.

In the previous years, manga were nominated in the same category along with Western comics. Since 2018 The Harvey Awards added the Best Manga Category, with My Lesbian Experience with Loneliness (Kabi Nagata) winning the first award.  Isayama’s Attack on Titan was the first manga title to win an award in the “Best American Edition of Foreign Material” category in 2014. As of now, the category is no longer a category.

Horikoshi’s My Hero Academia then went on to win the award in 2019. The only manga inducted into the Harvey Awards Hall of Fame is Osamu Tezuka’s God of Manga. The Harvey Awards are all nominated and chosen by other comic book professionals, unlike other comic awards.

Spy X Family Taking Over the World

Spy x Family tells the story of a spy, who is tasked with the role of,

Created by Tatsuya Endo, the manga has over 11 million digital and physical copies in circulation on Shonen Jump+. These numbers soon exceeded two million with the release of the third volume. It won the Next Manga Awards in 2019. Brutus Magazine’s “Most Dangerous Manga” list also includes the manga.

According to a recent interview with the VA Mariko Honda, SPYxFAMILY would be getting an anime adaptation in 2022.

The stream for this year’s Harvey Awards will be during New York Comic Con on October 7 through the 10. At the same time, there is not an officially confirmed anime adaptation of Spy x Family, although voice actor Mariko Honda mentioned in a (now deleted) interview that she “looks forward to the animated adaptation of the popular Spy X Family series next year”.
