Classic tunes or remastered beats, the choice is yours!

Fans of the classic, PS1-era Spyro games received a nice surprise today when Activision released another brief trailer for the upcoming Spyro Reignited Trilogy. There’s no new gameplay to be seen, but there is a reveal for a new feature that only lifelong fans can really appreciate. In Spyro Reignited Trilogy, players will have the ability to switch back and forth between the newly remastered soundtrack and the classic Spyro music at will, in all three games.

In addition to bringing back Spyro’s original voice actor, Tom Kenny, Toy for Bob has opted to include the original trilogy’s entire soundtrack alongside the remastered music. This means that fans will be able to crank up the nostalgia dial on Spyro Reignited Trilogy an extra notch or two if they want. All they have to do is go into the in-game option menu and toggle to the original soundtrack.

Many longtime fans will surely be tempted to keep the classic Spyro music on the whole time, but those that give the remastered soundtrack a chance will have the opportunity to hear a brand new track from the original trilogy’s composer: Stewart Copeland. The new track, called “Tiger Train,” was created by Copeland specifically for players of the Spyro Reignited Trilogy to enjoy. As for where in the game the new music will be found, the most likely candidate is the ninja-themed “Fireworks Factory” level in Spyro 3: Year of the Dragon. This is, of course, simply speculation based on the track’s title; it could very well be found anywhere in any of the games, perhaps even in everyone’s favorite trolley minigame in Spyro 2: Ripto’s Rage!’s “Breeze Harbor.”

Attack of the Fanboy recently had some hands-on time with Spyro Reignited Trilogy at E3 2018, and are happy to report that it stays true to the original games in terms of gameplay and overall presentation. Adding this extra music option just makes the nostalgia factor all the sweeter.

Spyro Reignited Trilogy launches on September 21 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
