Pre-registration is now open in the US for Squad Battle, a battle royale game by Netmarble. Players choose from various characters and form their own three-person squad with other players. That’s where the “Battle” portion of Squad Battle comes in, as 20 squads (60 players) fight for victory in an arena.

The battle royale genre is massive at this point, with major titles such as PUBG and Fortnite becoming household names for many gamers and a fair share of other titles following in their wake. Squad Battle promises plenty of characters, weapons, and interactive objects to make for fun and engaging battle royale matches. Come February, some players will be able to decide how well it lives up to its predecessors’ legacies when the game’s pre-alpha begins.

Netmarble announced the pre-registration for Squad Battle‘s pre-alpha testing in a press release earlier today. They also provided more details on how to pre-register, as well as a rough outline of the pre-alpha testing process:

According to the press release, players may pre-register for the Squad Battle pre-alpha on Steam. Those accepted to test the game will receive a notification via email. More information is expected in the coming days. Netmarble have already published several short teaser videos on the game’s official YouTube channel, such as the one below:

Netmarble has published several games in the past, involving popular brands and companies, such as Marvel Future Revolution for iOS and Android. However, Squad Battle marks an important first for the company, being their first foray into third-person battle royale games on PC.

Once testing begins, access to Squad Battle will be made available in four-hour periods. A schedule of testing times is available on Steam. Pre-registration for Squad Battle is open now. According to today’s press release, those who do not pre-register may still register during the pre-alpha testing.
