Actor Gregory Itzin: A Star and An Iconic Villain on 24

Itzin’s character on 24 is often considered one of the show’s best villains. Den of Geek calls it a “Nixonian visage” performance and says that Itzin “was perhaps always destined to play loathsome bureaucrats.” Despite his ability to play loathsome villains, Itzin is remembered by his manager Lisa Gallant as a loving family man. She said, “Greg was married to the love of his life, Judie, for 43 years and had two children, who were his pride and joy: Wilke (also an actor) and Julia (an artist) and a grandson Wylder Gregory, the apple of his eye.”

24 executive producer Jon Cassar also paid tribute to Itzin on Twitter, saying, “He was one of the most talented actors I had the honor to work with, but more than that he was an all around great guy.” The tweet can be seen below:

Gregory Itzin’s death occurs the same day as another actor known for playing criminal characters, Tony Sirico of The Sopranos.

Even after suffering a heart attack during a Shakespeare performance in 2015, Gregory Itzin thrived as a film and TV actor committed to his craft. The Nerd Stash honors the actor and sends best wishes to his family.
