In celebration of Star Trek Day, Gearbox Publishing and Cryptic Studios announced some new information on Star Trek Online. The developer and the publisher unveiled Star Trek Online: Ascension, the second Mirror Universe story update for the free-to-play MMORPG.
Wil Wheaton as Wesley Crusher Returns For Star Trek Online: Ascension
Star Trek Online has a history of incorporating famous characters from the universe into its games. And finally, Emperor Crusher, the ruler of the Terran Empire in Star Trek Online Mirror Universe, is coming to Star Trek Online with a new update. On Star Trek Day, a new trailer for Star Trek Online revealed Terran Emperor and Wesley Crusher. He is voiced by Wil Wheaton from Star Trek: The Next Generation.
Star Trek Online: Ascension introduces several new contents, including a 5-player ground TFO called “Storm Chasers” and the new Elite Officer Upgrade System, enabling players to upgrade bridge officers. These contents occur in a brand-new featured episode named “Eye of the Storm.”
The Ascension update includes exciting new features for the game, as well as brand-new missions with Star Trek: Discovery’s Chase Masterson as Admiral Leeta and Mary Wiseman as Captain Killy.
“Players team up with former enemy-turned-ally, Admiral Leeta, and learn that the Emperor is none other than the Mirror version of Wesley Crusher from The Next Generation. In order to stop the Terran Emperor from threatening both the Prime and Mirror Universes, the Federation will need to stop him from controlling The Other,” wrote the press release of the new update. “All while fighting off his forces led by the dreaded Captain Killy.”
The Ascension update for Star Trek Online will release on PC next week, on September 13. The release date for consoles has not been shared yet. Check Star Trek Online: Ascension site for more information regarding this update.
