Star Wars is getting a re-release of classic Legends books for its 50th anniversary. It’s the “Essential Legends Collection” and it will feature several rehashes. So Star Wars Bookworms, rejoice!

Star Wars: Legends Books

Heir to the Empire, Darth Bane: Path of Destruction and Shatterpoint will be the first to show up with the all-new redesigned covers.

As pointed out by this IGN article, more books will be coming as well during fall. Del Ray even responded to a Twitter user asking for the X-Wing series of novels to be republished. Del Ray said: “stay tuned”.

Now, it’s worth pointing out that all of these stories were de-canonized back in 2014. We still don’t know the canon status of these books at the present moment, but the fact that they’re getting re-printed might allow for a future where Disney reconsiders re-introducing these books into the canon. Now for a bit of history:

Heir to the Empire was written by Timothy Zahn and first published in May of 1991. The novel takes five years after the Return of the Jedi. Darth Bane: Path of Destruction was written by Drew Karpyshyn. It’s about Darth Bane set an even longer a time ago. It released in September of 2006. Shatterpoint was written by Matthew Stover and is the first novel set during the Clone Wars. It came out in April of 2004. It’s probably the most interesting of the bunch if you’re a fan of the prequels because it follows Jedi Master Mace Windu.

In other news, GRIT: Wild West Battle Royale is now in beta testing, and Faraday Protocol announced, said to release later this year.

And as ever, may the force be with you.
