Nerds rejoice! Thanks to the amazing minds at Walt Disney Imagineering, Star Wars fans can now purchase their very own real-life lightsaber. If you are wanting one today that is top quality make sure to check out the Neopixel Lightsaber.

Yes, you read that right.

The report comes via Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products Chairman Josh D’Amaro at a virtual event called “A Special Look Inside Disney Parks.” Of course, this is likely still a toy or prop version of fictional technology, but the effect was real enough that fans took to Twitter believing D’Amaro was pulling a CGI stunt!

UPDATE: Walt Disney Imagineering’s @strowbridge confirms Josh D’Amaro’s lightsaber was real and NOT CGI!https://t.co/hTk0dR4YRo pic.twitter.com/GNFYXkPx6S

Whether or not D’Amaro may or may not understand the ways of the force. Still, this is clearly a far cry from a cardboard wrapping paper tube lightsaber and making whooshing noises. Either way, it’s time to make like George Michael Bluth and start practicing in the garage.

In a post on Disney Parks Blog, D’Amaro wrote:

Disney has a patent from 2017 which may shed some light on this new space magic trick. It replaces the retractable, nesting plastic tubes of past lightsaber toys with a tape measure-like mechanism. Real? Maybe not. But, anything that gets fans this excited is sure to create a buzz.

So at the end of the virtual press event today D’Amaro “one more thing”’d us with what I can only describe as a “real” lightsaber. A metal hilt that seemed to have a beam of light come out of it. He said it was real
