Han Solo made his presence known very early into Star Wars: A New Hope back in 1977, with the infamous shooting of Greedo. As the movies went on, Han easily became the favorite of many, largely due to the charm of Harrison Ford in the role. It will take some real talent to put someone else in the role of the scoundrel, but it sounds like two very capable directors will be doing just that.
As first reported by Hollywood Reporter, Chris Miller and Phil Lord will direct the upcoming Han Solo spin-off film. Miller and Lord are the hottest name in the industry these days, putting out nothing but fantastic movies like The LEGO Movie and the two Jump Street movies.
Lord and Miller were also attached to the upcoming The Flash movie and a third Jump Street movie, but it appears that will no longer be the case, as least on the directing side. They are also involved with an animated Spider-Man film, but that shouldn’t be impacted due to them only writing a treatment and producing that one.
According to sources, Lawrence Kasdan and Joe Kasdan are writing the script, which is scheduled to be released on May 25, 2018. Oddly though, Hollywood Reporter says this is not the same spin-off film that was originally set to be directed by Josh Trank that was rumored to focus on Boba Fett. Many thought the movie would feature both Boba Fett and his early rivalry with Han Solo, but according to this report, they are separate.
