The latest earnings call with investors and analysts has been rather helpful in understanding Electronic Arts expectations on Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.

The game has been fully revealed now, and we’re waiting for the first gameplay to drop in June, at EA Play, although the publisher won’t be holding its usual press conference.

Interestingly, EA has predicted quite good sales for the game, an action adventure from Respawn Entertainment that should be focusing on a vibe similar to Star Wars The Force Unleashed.

The title is indeed expected to ship from 6 to 8 million units in FY 2020, which ends as early as March 31, 2020.

So, considering that it’s releasing on November 15, we’re talking about the first five months and a half, not the easiest of the targets.

Anyway, multiple aspects need to be taken into account: it’s a Star Wars game releasing a few weeks before the launch of Episode IX: Rise of Skywalker in theaters, first and foremost; considering all the hype around the franchise, that’s possible.

Then, it’s dropping on PC, PS4 and Xbox One, so the userbase will be at its full potential since we’re at the end of a generation and all the platforms capable of running the title have been considered.

Finally, it’s a single-player production, which should help EA stay out of trouble when it comes to aggressive monetization potentially leading to controversy like it has happened with Star Wars Battlefront II.

We’ll see how this turns out next year. In the meantime, what do you think about the game and Electronic Arts’ target with the sales?
