Be mindful, young Padawans! One of the greatest games ever is returning to consoles. Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast will re-release on current-generation platforms Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4.
Star Wars: Return of the Jedi Outcast
Star Wars fans clamored to pick up copies of Jedi Outcast when it released back in 2002. Set eight years after Return of the Jedi, players take control of Kyle Katarn. A Force user, Kyle ceased to use his abilities after he was tempted by the Dark Side. However, when a former student of Luke Skywalker betrays the Jedi Academy, Kyle works to track him down. Along the way, he reconnects with the Force and battles many adversaries to find the rogue Jedi.
The game was a unique Star Wars experience where players chose from an arsenal that includes both guns and lightsabers. The title also offered more in-depth customization, including light and dark side Force abilities. Players could use Force Heal to mend their wounds or inflict great pain with Force Lightning. While the original versions had both single and multiplayer modes, the ports will only contain the single-player story campaign.
Aspyr is behind the rerelease of Jedi Outcast. While it is unclear if the company will eventually port the previous entries in the Jedi Knight saga, the studio has confirmed that a port of Jedi Academy will release sometimes in 2020. Perhaps this will lead to more ports of classic and beloved titles from gaming history. Hopefully, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order takes a few cues from Jedi Outcast.
