Considered by some to be the greatest Star Wars game of all time, and one of the best Star Wars properties that can stack up alongside the classic films, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic has no shortage of respect from the gaming community. The only problem is – it is quite old. It’s not the easiest game to just set up and play, and for all the game does well in the gameplay and story departments, the graphics are showing their age. Oh, but what’s this? One of gaming’s most beloved RPGs is getting remade? Yes, that’s right. Announced during Sony’s recent PlayStation Showcase, and to many a “pog” in the Twitch chat, we got the great news that the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake is a real thing.

The team behind this bold project is Aspyr, Lucasfilm, and Sony Interactive Entertainment themselves. Such is the involvement of Sony, that the Star Wars: KOTOR remake is a PlayStation 5 timed console exclusive. Aspyr started out porting Windows games to Mac, including games in series such as Call of Duty, Civilization, and of course, Star Wars. They later brought a number of older Star Wars games to modern platforms, but the Star Wars: KOTOR remake is by far the greatest project the studio has ever undertaken. No pressure then, as the original PC version currently sits at a 93 on video game review aggregator site Metacritic – a number that is hard to reach, even with modern standards.
