Some of you may have seen Star Wars: Rogue One already. If not, avoid reading this post entirely. It will touch upon a lot of spoilers about the movie.
Seriously, if you have not seen Star Wars: Rogue One, go out and watch it while you can. It may not be a perfect film, but it delivers a lot in terms of action and entertainment. Okay, let’s start off by talking about the interesting parts of the film.
Cameos: My favorite cameo in Star Wars: Rogue One is on Jedha when Jyn Erso bumps into both Ponda Baba and Dr. Evazan. You may remember these two as the duo that was in the Cantina in A New Hope. I laughed when these two showed up in the new movie.
The most famous cameo is Darth Vader. He has made the planet Mustafar a place where he rests. He’s not in the film for that long, but it was cool to see him kill all the Rebels at the end of the movie with his lightsaber.
The other two cameos I noticed were General Tarkin and Princess Leia. These two looked a little off, because their faces were fully rendered in CGI. Tarkin had the biggest appearance in the movie, while Leia appeared just at the end.
Death Star weak spot explained: One of the biggest criticisms of the first Star Wars film is why the Death Star had a weak spot in the first place. Well this movie explains why it has a weak spot. Jyn Erso’s father, Galen, is an engineer on the Death Star and he purposely made a weak spot on the Death Star. He reluctantly worked for the Empire in order to keep Jyn Erso safe. Making the weak spot was done in secret to ensure that there is a way for it to get destroyed.
The ending: The ending of the film is the saddest part of Rogue One. Most people will know that the Death Star plans were delivered to the Empire, however the poor Rogue One team sacrificed themselves to make it happen.
Everyone in the Rogue One team dies on Scarif. Some die in battle by the Stormtroopers, while Jyn Erso and Cassian Andor eventually die when the Death Star shows up to blow up the planet of Scarif.
Many people say the ending mirrors that of Halo: Reach because everyone dies. It’s a very sad ending, although it makes sense. It makes sense since we never hear of the Rogue One heroes ever again in Star Wars. They are sadly heroes that never got to live out and tell how heroic they really were.
