Following a leak and confirmation on Friday, EA has officially released a cinematic trailer for Star Wars: Squadrons. The game promises an immersive, first-person dogfighting experience. It is being developed by Motive Studios, the same team behind Star Wars: Battlefront II. You can check out the trailer below.

What To Expect From Star Wars: Squadrons

Star Wars: Squadrons will feature 5v5 multiplayer matches as well as a single-player campaign set directly after Return of the Jedi. It will launch on October 2nd for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Non-console players will be able to play it through Origin, Steam, and the Epic Games Store. It will also be available in VR via the PlayStation 4 and PC. What’s most exciting, however, is that it will support cross-play for all platforms. Motive Studios’ Creative Director Ian Frazier had this to say:

As Frazier stated, gameplay for Star Wars: Squadrons will be shown off at EA Play Live. The digital event’s original date was June 11th, but it was postponed to June 18th.

Similar to Motive’s last game, Squadrons will offer heavy customization in terms of gameplay and cosmetics. Thankfully, players will earn these enhancements simply by playing the game. The story will alternate players between a pilot for the New Republic and one for the Empire with a cast of new supporting characters. We can expect a few familiar faces to pop up as well.

Star Wars: Squadrons will be $39.99 and is available for pre-order now.
