As you’re playing through Stardew Valley, you might have noticed that you can establish friendships with some of the NPCs you come across. Much like similar country life simulators, these friendships can blossom into romantic relationships and, eventually, you can marry these characters. Establishing friendships with these characters is surprisingly easy as you really only need to keep up with a character and give them certain gifts to raise their relationship level and as the relationship level goes up, it starts bearing fruit, usually in the form of recipes. However, marrying someone requires a little bit more time and effort and we’re here to give you a guide on how to do just that.

How to Get Married in Stardew Valley

One of the greater things about the process of getting married in Stardew Valley is that, while getting to the appropriate relationship level is different for every eligible character, getting married is the same no matter who you decide to get hitched with. You’ll want to talk to the desired character frequently and provide them gifts that they love twice a week. After getting to an eight-heart level with them, provide them with the Bouquet item. Following that, go to the beach on a rainy day with 5000 gold and speak with the Old Mariner to purchase the Mermaid’s Pendant. Present the pendant to the character you’re in a romance with and a ceremony for the wedding will happen three days later.

Once you’re married, though, it would appear that you need to continue doting on your partner, as not doing so may result in some less than desired situations. You don’t have to do anything more than you were already doing for your partner before getting married so just keep that up and you’ll usually be fine.
