While Stardew Valley is centered around farming, there are numerous other activities you can engage in. You can fish, mine precious gems and metals, and even cook dozens of different foods. However, many food recipes require either sugar, flour, or rice to cook. Thankfully, you can get all three of these from a mill. By the end of this guide, you will learn how to get and use the mill in Stardew Valley.

How To Get and Use The Mill

To get a mill in Stardew Valley, you first need to gather building materials. These resources include 2500g, 50 Stone, 150 Wood, and four Cloth. Bring your materials and money to Robin in the Carpenter’s Shop, and she will begin building a mill on your farm. She does not finish building it right away, though. You will need to wait two days for Robin to complete your mill before you can use it. You also cannot start other build projects until she is done building.

Once Robin finishes building your mill, you can use it to produce the following products:

  • Flour, obtained from wheat
  • Sugar, obtained from beets
  • Rice, obtains from unmilled rice

Interact with the mill using any of these three products to begin using the building. Unlike equipment such as the crystalarium, preserves jar, or a keg, you can use multiple items in the mill at the same time. Furthermore, having all three in will not increase the amount of time it takes to produce finished goods. However, it takes a full day for the mill to process the products, so you will not receive the completed goods until the following morning. Once everything is done processing, you can interact with the building to collect the completed products.

Stardew Valley is available on PC, Android, iOS, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One.
