Starfield, the upcoming open-world space RPG from the team at Bethesda Game Studios, has given us our first in-depth gameplay reveal at the Xbox Bethesda showcase earlier today. You can take a look at the gameplay deep dive below and get your first look at everything Bethesda is offering this time around.

What Did Bethesda Show for Starfield Gameplay?

The gameplay for Starfield was quite in-depth for a game still around a year out from release (at the time of writing). Outside of the legendary Todd Howard bringing us details regarding various parts of the game, the showcase debuted the player landing on the moon of Kreet. As you explore this moon, not only will the grand scale be quite intriguing, but so will the fauna which could potentially be hostile as shown by our character aiming a gun at it at first sight. Following this is a shootout, which sees you take on a band of space pirates as they raid a nearby outpost. Following this was a full showcase of the city of New Atlantis, which not only showed a glimpse at NPC life but even some of the new character animations.

Things end off with a full dive into building and spaceship combat, with the former bringing an evolution to the base building made a staple of Bethesda games in Fallout 4. With not just fully craftable outposts but a completely moddable ship, it’s sure to prove a nice evolution to the classic Bethesda formula. The space combat proved to be a personal highlight as well, with it taking the form of many games like it. That’s not even mentioning the fact that you can visit 100 star systems and a thousand planets, which is sure to bring plenty of variety if these plants are handcrafted.

But for now, I’d love to hear your thoughts. What aspect of Starfield are you most excited about from the gameplay reveal at the Xbox Bethesda showcase? What do you hope to find out in the stars? Let me know!
