During the Xbox showcase at this year’s Gamescom, State of Decay 2 made a welcoming appearance with a new update. Entitled as the “State of Decay 2: Homecoming” update, players will return to where it all started – the original map of Trumbull Valley. This update comes packed with numerous features, including new story content for players to explore.

Welcome Back to Trumbull Valley

Starting on September 1, 2021, the Homecoming update will bring back the first game’s original map. With a fully remastered overhaul compared to its initial counterpart, Homecoming throws in six new bases, fresh outfits, and some of the latest weapons to make their way into the apocalypse.

With the multiple complements to State of Decay 2‘s gameplay, players were pitted against plague territories and Hearts. While this epidemic has severely hindered humankind’s progression, the folks at Trumbull Valley have held onto hope. They dare to take down the apocalypse, one zed at a time. With old friends reuniting and new ones banding together, the war against the undead has reached a turning point.

State of Decay 2: Homecoming Update Trailer w/ Kat Leon

The trailer takes us right into the heart of Trumbull Valley. A gentle voiceover expresses confidence during the dark times of this undead apocalypse. We’re then treated to a rampage of violence, all while in sync with Kat Leon’s “Fearless” – a song that perfectly encapsulates Trumbull Valley’s determination to rise against the undead.

In addition to the update’s news, Undead Labs announced that State of Decay 2: Juggernaut Edition has surpassed 10 million players since its launch. Undead Labs seems to be the developer that keeps on giving, with State of Decay 3 currently in the works.

State of Decay 2: Juggernaut Edition is available now for the Xbox Series X|S (backward compatibility), Xbox One, Windows, Steam, and Epic Games Store. It is also available on the Xbox Game Pass.
