It’s the end of May, which means the end of our Steam free weekend game coverage for the month. This month has brought about a lot of interesting and free titles, including some outside of Steam. If you’ve gotten out there and tried out some new free games, be sure to let us know what you thought of them. We love to hear your opinions. For this week though, we have four free weekend games and one free to keep DLC for owners of the game. Without further adieu, let’s get into everything you can play free this weekend.
Darkest Dungeon is a turn-based dark fantasy RPG from indie developer Red Hook Studios. Recruit a team of not so ideal heroes and bring them on a journey through several different environments. Through it, you’ll meet dangerous foes but even those you can’t see. If you can’t cure them, they’ll be just as threatening as your regular foes. With turn-based combat and roguelike mechanics, Darkest Dungeon is the game for those who want a real challenge. You can play it free on Steam until June 1st and can get the game at 75% off until the same time. Good luck out there adventurers!
Genesis Alpha One comes from Team17 and Radiation Blue and is a roguelike first-person shooter. The future is bleaker than anyone could’ve imagined, with aliens and humans ravaging in the systems vowing for control. As a member of a Genesis spaceship, you’re humanity’s last hope in saving the colony and your race from extinction. Will you do what it takes to save humanity, or will you fail just like the rest? PixARK is an open-world survival game from Snail Games USA. Taking a bit of a different approach to ARK: Survival Evolved, players must use blocks to build various structures and take on the surrounding wildlife. Every player may have that goal, but not all want to reach it with you. Take the fight to the dinos and enemy players in this voxel take on the hit survival game. And finally, there’s Cultist Simulator from the Weather Factory team. This BAFTA nominee brings you on a journey as a seeker in the 1920s. Your goal is to unearth otherworldly mysteries about our world and others. Every move you make and every card you play determines your future, and one wrong move may end your run for good. This roguelike card game will surprise you and is available till June 1st to try. Fans of its story-rich world can also pick up the game for 50% off on Steam.
