Post-apocalyptic, robot-fighting, outlaw motorcycle gang; It doesn’t get much more awesome than that.

What could be cooler than playing as an outlaw motorcycle gang? How about playing as a post-apocalyptic, outlaw motorcycle gang? How about playing as a post-apocalyptic, outlaw motorcycle gang that fights giant robots? Those that answered the latter are in luck, because that’s more or less exactly what Steel Rats is about.

Steel Rats drops players in a retro-futuristic version of 1940’s America, and specifically the sprawling metropolis of Coastal City. It’s this city of the future that the Steel Rats motorcycle gang calls home, and also happens to be the site of a major “junk bot” infestation. The authorities have their hands full trying to deal with all the damage these machines are causing, so it’s up to the gang to drive the horde back and retake their home.

Steel Rats is described as a “combat action platformer” by its developer, Tate Multimedia. Players can take to the streets with any of the four main characters and tear-up their enemies with a variety of weapons on customizable bikes. Each rider has also has their own set of skills and abilities, and can be freely switched between at any time. Every level has secrets to find too, so players will need to be thorough if they want to uncover the whole story behind what’s happening in Coastal City.

Steel Rats is now available on PC via Steam and PlayStation 4.
