The Pokémon series features numerous monsters to collect and battle with, but this means you will need to master the type system. This includes many different elemental typings, all with their own strengths and weaknesses. One type that is popular and typically a solid defensive type is the Steel type. This may leave you wondering what types Steel Pokémon are weak against and strong against.

Steel-type Pokémon Weaknesses and Strengths

Steel-type Offensive Chart

Steel-type moves are super-effective against Ice, Rock, and Fairy-type Pokémon. With Fairy-type Pokémon being strong against Dragon-type Pokémon, packing a Steel-type is a solid plan. Rock-types are also fairly common as well, making Steel a great type to have.

Steel-type Defensive Chart

Steel-type Pokémon are one of the most defensive types in the game, having numerous resistances and packing a solid defense score as well. Unfortunately, the types they are weak against are Fighting, Fire, and Ground, all of which are all common in the meta, so you may need to get a dual-type Steel Pokémon with another type that provides defense against these types.

When battling against Steel-type Pokémon, make sure you have a Pokémon that is Fighting, Fire, or Ground-type, or at least has a move of those types. Because Steel-type Pokémon typically have high defense, it can be a challenge to take them down without a super-effective attack.
