Sometimes it feels like I’ve been looking for the perfect headset my entire life. I’ve owned plenty of the top brands, including Sennheiser and Astro. Both have been good to me for different reasons, but I’ve yet to find a headset that fills all my needs. With the release of the Arctis Pro + GameDAC by SteelSeries, claiming to be gaming’s first certified Hi-Res Audio System, my interest has been piqued.
Earlier today, SteelSeries published a press release detailing the Arctis Pro headset line. It includes the Arctis Pro, Arctis Pro Wireless, and the Arctis Pro + GameDAC. The latter is the only headset that claims to be Hi-Res audio certified.
What intrigues me is not only the potential sound quality, but also the fact it appears the Arctis Pro + GameDAC will be compatible with both my gaming platforms of choice, the PS4 and PC. I’m currently using my Sennheiser HD 598 Cs headset for PC gaming, and my wireless Astro A50 headset for my PS4. The fact that the Arctis Pro + GameDAC features inputs for both platforms leads me to believe I could potentially use the optical cable for my PS4 and the USB for my PC. The goal in my home office is to minimize, so the idea of replacing two headsets with one that is of higher quality sounds wonderful.

All three Arctis Pro headsets are available for purchase directly from the SteelSeries website, and it’s my intention to review this product. The Arctis Pro + GameDAC says all the right things, and if it can back it up it might be my headset of choice moving forward.
