Last April saw the release of Nemesis, an expansion for Paradox Interactive‘s grand strategy game, Stellaris. Nemesis added a plethora of content to the Stellaris experience. Now, almost a year later, Paradox Interactive has announced another major expansion for the game. The Overlord expansion is coming to Stellaris later this year.

The expansion is coming to PC, but today’s announcement did not mention whether it will also come to consoles.

Like many grand strategy games, Stellaris uses a mixture of artificial intelligence and player input. No two playthroughs are alike. In today’s press release, Paradox Interactive expressed enthusiasm for how the Overlord expansion will contribute to this storytelling:

The Overlord expansion will add new megastructures, enclaves and music to Stellaris. Players can also expect five Origins to be added to the game.

The 3.4 “Cepheus” update will arrive with the Overlord expansion

All Stellaris players will receive a free update when the Overlord expansion launches later this year. Today’s press release didn’t reveal much. Still, we now know that the 3.4 “Cepheus” update will include “new content and adjustments for all players, as part of the continued effort by the Custodian team to provide continuous improvements to Stellaris.”

Stellaris is available now on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
